International EmComm Cooperation Pledged

The amateur radio societies in three countries whose people and governments don't always get along have agreed to work together on emergency communications and more. Region 1 of the International Amateur Radio Union (IARU)
reports that the national associations of Greece, Turkey and Bulgaria have signed a Memorandum of Understanding in which they pledge to help each other in times of need. In addition, the agreement calls for cooperation in other activities - such as worldwide sporting events, school contacts with the International Space Station and scouting jamborees - that "promote and strengthen amateur radio, friendship and co-operation between peoples."
